About RCAS

The Roy Chapman Andrews Society was formed in 1999 by a group of Beloit, Wisconsin residents intent on building more awareness of one of the 20th Century's most famous explorers. Since Roy Chapman Andrews was born and raised in Beloit, it was only fitting that such a society exist in his hometown.

The Roy Chapman Andrews Society honors the legacy of Roy Chapman Andrews by: educating the public about Andrews' life, work, and adventures; promoting the value of scientific exploration and discovery; emphasizing Andrews' lifetime ties to Beloit, Wisconsin.

- Sylvia Earle (2010) has led more than 400 expeditions worldwide involving in excess of 7000 hours underwater in connection with her research.

- Mark Plotkin (2004) ethnobotanist and bio-prospector for new medicines developed from the plants and practices of traditional healers of the Amazon jungle.
- Michael J. Novacek (2003) leader of the first Western expedition to the Gobi Desert since Andrews' discovery of the first dinosaur egg fossil there in 1922.
